Calling all Speakers
The Deep Sea Mining Summit is seeking presentations that are focused on the following topics:
- The economic landscape and growth for deep-sea mining
- Achieving sustainable seabed mining projects in harmony with nature
- New exploration and mining projects underway, and the latest frontline feedback
- Regional opportunities to harvest Seafloor Massive Sulphides and Manganese Nodules
- Working with nations through a regulatory framework, the opportunities and risks
- Technological developments associated with commercialising deep-sea mining
As we move into an era of mining the deep-ocean floor, the world’s most remote and ecologically diverse environment, industry stakeholders are working on overcoming the perceived environmental challenges, and island nations and international regulators are developing new framework agreements and engaging with interest. As the demand for base metals and rare earth minerals surges ever beyond what our land can provide, new technological and technical developments are helping to drive forward this new industry.
Private and government-sponsored seabed minerals exploration projects are ongoing to respond to this ever-increasing demand. The International Seabed Authority has awarded 26 licenses for seabed minerals exploration. As new technological solutions are utilised for deep-sea mining, we anticipate new commercial operations to develop further in the near term.
The Deep Sea Mining Summit comes to the region with a unique and timely focus on “forming partnerships”. This session will allow the region to meet with industry stakeholders to address the current issues.
