Biography
Chunhui Tao is a Researcher and Doctoral Supervisor at the Second Institute of Oceanography, MNR, and Adjunct Vice Dean at Shanghai Jiao Tong University's School of Oceanography. He co-chairs the Working Group of SMS Resource at Mid-Ocean Ridges of InterRidge.
Specializing in seafloor mineral resources, Chunhui pioneered SMS prospecting models. Notably, he discovered the first high-temperature black smoke (Longqi-1) on ultraslow-spreading ridges in the Southwest Indian Ocean, proposing an innovative sulfide metallogenic model. He has found seafloor hydrothermal fields across oceans, earning two Second Prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Awards. He's authored 80 papers in esteemed journals.
