Biography
Michèle Barbier, founder and executive director of the Institute for Science and Ethics (France), obtained her PhD at the University Pierre and Marie Curie followed by post-doctoral fellowships at NOAA and Institut Pasteur. She is the author of the CIESM Charter on access and Benefit Sharing related to marine resources and PEGASUS, European guidelines for the sustainable development of seaweed aquaculture. She is Ethics Expert for the European Commission and IAPG France Coordinator - International Association for Promoting GeoEthics.
Her objective is to develop the ethics dimension in science and innovation to promote the sustainability of the ocean.
